Polyphony

Polyphony is a revolutionary application modelling program - use Polyphony to create context (aka conceptual) and logical designs of the application functionality, and to check the design for integrity and consistency, all without using UML. In short, it changes the relationship between IT and the business.

How does it work?

It achieves this goal in an extremely simple way. It replaces boring old application documentation with a computer model. You can see how the application works through pictures. You can browse the pictures, expanding and contracting parts of the diagram, selecting elements and drawing a new diagram focused on the selected element, or by running scripts and seeing the diagram populated by data.

The model has an active text front end so that it is no more difficult to use than a web page. The user reads the document and generates the diagrams by clicking on links in the text.

Why is this revolutionary?

Two reasons.

  1. Many people need to understand IT applications - management, knowledge workers, business process analyst and IT newcomers, to name but a few. Today, these people struggle and work without the understanding. With Polyphony, they can understand the applications more easily, in more detail, and without being given any security compromising privileges to use it.
  2. The second revolutionary innovation comes when you use Polyphony before application development. You can explain what a proposed new application does. You can argue about it and correct it. The business can reach a consensus on what they need. And you can do all this before a line of code has been written. This is especially important if you plan to outsource development.
